case studiesDebut Jazz Album

Heather is an international singer at the top of her game. She also loves to sing jazz and recently decided to record her debut solo album of “classic intimate love songs” with just voice and piano.

She’d lined up David Newton, 10 x times winner of “Best Jazz Pianist” to accompany her and they’d chosen some dynamite songs to record too.

The only problem was….who was going to buy it? Heather had no traffic to her blog, no mailing list to speak of, no marketing assets and no idea about product launches. Luckily she knew someone who did … Read more >>>

The Money Gym 2010Life Coach To Wealth Coach

Back in 1999-2000 an ordinary UK based life coach finished her training with Coach U in the USA.

Luckily for her, she’d trained while the founder, Thomas Leonard, was still alive and who happened to be a marketing genius as well as the founder of the coaching movement.

Thomas was an “early adopter” and so was this life coach who embraced the new technology to build a following, create a website, build a mailing list of people who knew who she was, what she did and most importantly, what she could do for them!  Read more >>>

Brighton Jazz Festival LogoBrighton Jazz Festival

Back in 2008 or so, The Brunswick Pub, who host the regular Tuesday night Jazz Jam,  pioneered a Brunswick Jazz Festival in Brighton.  Phil, co-owner of the Brunswick is a keen jazz fan, and figured it would help the profile of jazz in Brighton, help the pub and help Brighton.

After several years, it turned out that,in the current format, it wasn’t really viable so they let it go.

Fast forward to 2011, when Nicola Cairncross, sister of singer Heather Cairncross, starts turning up at the Jazz Jam and asks “why isn’t there a Brighton Jazz Festival, when there’s one in London, Fife and Bude?” knowing full well that if she got involved in helping to organise one, it would be an awful lot of work!

She tried to forget the idea but it just wouldn’t go away and on finding that the .com domain was available, she snaffled it just in case.

The thought occurred that someone who was not a musician, not a venue, but who did have a lot of experience at internet marketing, social media, and previously of organising and promoting events in both Brighton and London, could possibly succeed in uniting the jazz musicians, the venues and the local media while also raising the profile of the brilliant Brighton jazz scene…. case studiesEmpty Room In Mayfair To £150,000 + In 6 Months

Having just successfully launched the Victory Cafe (see below) I arrived to meet entrepreneur philanthropist Bennie Gray, founder of The Space Organisation, I was excited to find out what my next marketing / launch project would be!  Bennie took me out of Gray’s Antiques, round the corner and through a door I’d never seen before.

Up a flight of steps, we came upon a landing which opened out onto this amazing empty room with natural daylight, white walls and beautiful wooden parquet flooring.

This was The Music Room, an unused space of 3500 sq ft, above Greys Antiques, in the heart of London’s Mayfair.

“See what you can do with that” he said, before disappearing off again in a swirl of red sports car.  Within 6 months I had made him over £150,000 of extra revenue with a VERY high profit margin  … Read More >>>

case studiesDingy Basement To Retro Themed Cafe

In the late 90′s I talked my way into working with inspirational entrepreneur Bennie Gray, founder of The Space Organisation.

Bennie created many amazing inner-city regeneration projects including Danceworks and Grays Antiques, Alfies Antiques and Canalot Production Studios, all in London; The Big Peg, The Custard Factory in Birminham and Ardanaiseig Hotel in Scotland (among many others!).

I arrived for the first meeting to be taken down into the basement underneath Gray’s Antiques in Mayfair, to be shown a dingy cellar that looked not unlike a damp old railway arch.

“I’ve had the idea to turn that into a cafe, nice and old fashioned, what about the ’50′s?” he said “Oh, by the way, that’s the River Tyburn flowing through the basement over there!”

So I set to work, and let me tell you, it was the most fun ever but Bennie was a tough businessman – the budget was always ZERO!  One of my toughest jobs was to track down that Wurlitzer jukebox in the picture!  Second only to the sandwich display counter which had to be old Italian coffee shop style and had to come from Italy in the end!

Then Bennie threw me my biggest challenge yet, which was to launch The Victory Cafe, get as much press as possible and make it a success – all on a budget of threepence half’penny!

Miss Dee PalmerReclusive Author & Composer

In 2011 a previously world famous musician invited the sister of a freind to dinner, and over the course of that dinner shared some amazing stories from her past, along with her plans to write a book, a new album and perhaps create a new Prom.

The only problem was, she had been pretty much retired for the last 10 years or so and nobody knew where she was or what she was up to.

However there were millions of fans out there, from her rock star days, it was just a question of how best to reach them! Read more >>>
